Winning Paws Dog Training was born from a passion of of dog showing, and in particular Roxanne’s belief that any dog can be nurtured and trained to enjoy their time in the show ring.
About Roxanne
Roxanne started showing at a young age with her grandparents Boxers, before being allowed her first dog of her own. At just 7 years old she had convinced her parents to get a dog and the family choice became the Irish Red and White Setter. A stubborn and challenging breed that was to take her through her junior handling career, and later into judging, breeding, showing and outside of the show ring, Canicross.
Roxanne’s grandparents started the family passion for showing and training, as they set up a ringcraft club which Roxanne was always involved in, from helping train puppies of friends who had kept multiple puppies, to then becoming a trainer passing her knowledge onto others. The ringcraft was handed over to new trainers in 2019 due to work commitments
Every step of the way have been her parents too, and you will often find Ray, Debbie and Roxanne with their Roanjora Irish Red and White Setters.
About Ray
Ray joined part of the Winning Paws training team in 2021 when they decided to start classes after Lockdown 3, to give owners and handlers the chance to get extra practise in along side their weekday ringcraft.
Ray has been showing, training and judging since the early 1990’s and is passed to award CCs in four breeds and has judged at Crufts.
Following Roxanne and Joe’s junior handling career, he started to specialise in junior handler training, having had trainees win JHA semi finals and Handling classes at Crufts.
He has also successfully competed in Adult Handling classes including being awarded runner-up Adult Handler of the Year and the following year he won Adult Handler of the Year, proving he practises what he preaches with his junior handlers
